Very Poor QualityJul 31, 2010 The shelves are barely better than cardboard. I used them to store diapers, wipes, and extra baby blankets. All the shelves are bowing because of this light amount of weight. Even the top where the baby lays is starting to bow. Buy a better changing table that is made from actual wood!
Just OKMay 22, 2010 I have the set of DaVinci Emily furniture (crib, dresser and changing table). The crib is the highest quality piece of the set-very sturdy and well made. The dresser is not bad-we had some trouble putting it together because of confusing directions, and a couple of the drawers don't fit as snugly as they could, but overall not a bad piece for a child's room. The changing table itself it decent and seems to be sturdy enough-although my child is only 7mos. and under 20lbs. at this point. The drawer is a joke-cheap materials and craftsmanship-it was a nightmare to assembly because the screws didn't line up with the drill holes. It never really worked, and eventually after coming apart so many times we just removed it. I do miss the drawer, but it can function well enough with just the two shelves.
Looks & Functions well, but quality of material is disappointingDec 30, 2009 We got this changing table for three reasons: 1) It matched well with our Emily 4-1 crib, 2) I liked the look of the open shelving, and, 3) The price was good compared to other changing tables. We really debated whether or not we wanted a changing table, or if we should convert the dresser into one. This was our first child and weren't sure of what would be nice to have vs. what would be a life-saver!
Like other reviewers, we had to wait several weeks as it was back-ordered (which we didn't find out until we had ordered it). It came with several weeks to spare before the baby, but we had hoped to have everything ready earlier. We did the espresso finish to match the crib, and it looks great with the crib. I was disappointed when I opened the box and found that the shelves were MDF board and not solid wood. We were hoping to be able to repurpose it later into a functional piece of furniture, but now I'm not sure how long the quality will last. Assembly is not a complicated design, but it was frustrating. The sides attach to the rails with a bolt and threaded metal sleeves that are pre-inserted. If these don't line up perfectly, it makes assembly difficult. I had to switch some things around to get a more perfect alignment between these two.
Once assembled, it has been very stable and secure. We have found it to be very useful and can't believe we ever considered not getting a changing table. The height is perfect for us (I'm 5'10" and my wife is 5'4"). We had considered getting a nicer pad as the one that is supplied is a bit thin, but it serves its purpose and function so we have stuck with it.
Overall, it looks good and functions well, but I would have hoped for a better quality product. If you need a nice, cost-effective changing table to help you get through a couple of years, this is probably a good option. I just don't see it being a piece of furniture that will be around for a while in my household.
Beautiful BuyOct 10, 2009 I debated long and hard over this purchase, but there was no need for that! It's very pretty, and we think it's an excellent buy. We had no problem with the plastic pegs, and nothing was broken or scratched in the least on arrival. My husband got it together quickly. It's more sturdy and more elegant than I expected, and the shelves are plywood, but it doesn't show. We just set up the table, but we're pretty sure it will be great.

Not solid hardwood as advertiesed & some other issues, but would buy againSep 08, 2009 It has taken a couple months since I ordered this to actually be able to put it together. First, while there was no indication of this when I placed the order (it said "in stock", it was on backorder with the manufacturer. Home & Living contacted me, gave me an expected date, and asked me to confirm that I still wanted it. The item is drop shipped directly from the manufacturer, so no retailer would have been able to get it any faster. I went ahead with the order.
When it arrived and I opened the box, I found that the shelves are actually made of mdf/particle board with a veneer finish. The product description on this page says that the item is solid hardwood ("This solid hardwood changer...", still up 2 months after I notified them of the misleading description). It cannot be solid hardwood with mdf shelves. Also, unlike the description, these mdf/particle board shelves are not what I would describe as "sturdy." So, I start to wonder if the no formaldehyde and non-toxic finish mentioned in the description, and the reason I purchased this changer, are accurate. I contact the manufacturer (Million Dollar Baby) about this, and they re-assure me that they do not use formaldehyde, and the finish is indeed non-toxic. OK, can live with the lack of solid wood as long as it is not going to off gas toxins or coated with them.
I take out all the pieces to assemble the item, and one of the dowels on the side piece is broken. Home & Garden is good about getting me a replacement, although it takes about another month for the replacement to arrive. I'm happy that I didn't have to send the whole thing back for a broken part. In fact, when the replacement arrives, there are two replacement parts. This was a good thing, as a dowel on one of the replacement parts was also broken. After two months, we have the unit put together and in service. It is attractive and does the job. The wood is a bit softer than I would classify as hardwood & dents fairly easy (it is a type of New Zealand pine but the manufacturer describes it as hardwood). Overall, I'm basically satisfied with the purchase and the customer service was responsive and took care of the problem, although slow in delivering. I didn't expect a great piece of furniture for this price, and I'd still buy this item if I had to do it all over again. I think for something like a crib, I'd spend the extra for a real quality hardwood crib, but for a changer, this does the trick without breaking the already strained budget.
