baby playtime toyApr 23, 2010 Bought this as a shower gift for our pastor's wife who was expecting. Feedback has it she loved playing with it.
mehMar 24, 2010 Not the best play gym/mat out there.
Cons:
1. Has plastic rigid plastic things sewn into the mat, so you cannot machine wash it. Gross.
2. Toys are awfully high for a small baby to be able to touch them or even kick them.
3. You can roll up one end and use it for tummy time, but when your child starts to roll over you can't really do this anymore because baby is trapped between the 2 plastic arch supports.
4. Because of the arch supports, you have less flexibilty as to how you lay baby down, unlike other play gyms.
5. I don't really like Fisher Price's whole velcro system for their toys. I prefer rings so that you can change out the toys from time to time.
6. Unlike another reviewer, I didn't think it was particularly easy to fold up and store. I also cannot get the arches through the tubes to make a tunnel.
Pros:
1. My baby likes the fish that plays music, and when he starts kicking more I think he will like the jingly beach ball.
my baby loves this toyJan 29, 2010 I bought this for my daughter when she was 3 months old, and was amazed at how well it occupied her. For the first time, she would lie down and be entertained for a long time! I could cook and bake and do laundry while she played with her cool play gym! It never really worked for tummy time, but that was fine by me. Also we didn't get much use out of it through the weeks when she was doing a lot of rolling- the sides of the mat are hard plastic, and I didn't think it would be comfortable for her to roll over that. Once she learned how to crawl, around 7 months old, I converted it to a tunnel (which I found really easy to do, in contrast to some of the other reviews) and she REALLY loved that. Now she is almost 12 months old and she still plays with this toy almost daily. She likes to sit inside and look at me through the mesh. She loves to pull off the toys and play with them- the ball and the musical fish are her favorite.
I have to say, when I first bought this I regretted not getting a fancier play gym. But over time it has turned out to be much better than those other gyms. And it fits pretty well in our tiny apartment!
Terrible!Dec 09, 2009 It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to put this together the first time! I have no idea how to convert it to a tunnel. It is poorly made, and my daughter is not interested in it AT ALL! We have tried introducing it to her many, many times over the past 6 months and nothing. The connection between the mat and the plastic sides for the tummy time is very poor. The velcro does not attach well for the toys. The short velcro should be attached to the toy, instead of the bar. This seems like a choking hazard. The other thing is that the music on the fish plays two 15 second or less tunes. The price for this does not match the quality, at all.
I am so glad I did not purchase this and it was a gift. I was not even looking for a tummy time or playmat, but if you are, I would NOT recommend this one.
Does not convert to tunnel version - the tubing is sewn shut!Dec 08, 2009 This toy was fun for our son until we tried to convert it to the tunnel. After 4 of us struggled to do it, we discovered that the it was sewn shut inside the tubing where the the tabs were sewn on. Of course by the time your baby is ready for the tunnel, your return policy has long since expired. DON'T BUY IT!
