Great car seatJul 25, 2010
This car seat is really nice and sturdy. The straps are super easy to adjust and tighten. The color scheme is good and would be good for a girl or a boy. The only problem we have noticed is that is does not breathe very well and when the baby sits for any period of time in the seat he starts to sweat really badly. We had him in the seat at the park and when we got home he had the worst heat rash (granted it is summer in southern Texas) but this has also happened to us indoors so be careful about that, but otherwise it is a very nice carseat.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR SEAT IF YOUR BABY IS ~5 pounds.
Although the minimum weight is 5 pounds for this car seat, it was a
horrible experience with our 5 pound new born.
To give you an idea of how horrible the experience can be.
My wife fainted in a grocery store with Seizure, the baby was in breach position.
Doctors delivered the baby with a C-section. Baby had Jaundice. Had
to spend 4 sleepless nights in the hospital.
The stress/headaches of getting the new born home, in a 30 minute
drive was much more than all of the above combined.
It is tooooooooooo big for a 5 pound baby. We bought a car seat padding but even
after that, the baby was not comfortable in the seat.
IMHO Graco should change the minimum weight to 8 pounds or so.

i read a lot of reviews about this car seat being way to big, however i don't think it is really THAT much bigger than a regular car seat. i'm not due for a couple more months, so i have yet to actually use it... but it fits great in the back of our '05 camry, and is a LOT easier to get in and out of the base than the safety 1st seat we used with our son. the only downside is that we live in alaska and therefore must use car seat covers in the winter... the car seat cover we used with our son won't fit on this seat, but i'm sure there's one out there that will. overall, i'm extremely pleased with this purchase and can't wait to bring our bundle of joy home in it!

Our son was 21 1/2 inches at birth, and 23 1/2 inches by his two week check up. I'm so glad we opted for this larger seat--otherwise we'd be shopping for a new one already. Yes, it is a bit bulky, but it's safe and attractive (and fits fine with our graco stroller). The fabric is durable and easy to clean.

This is my first child, so I have no other carseat to compare this one to. I confess I bought this one because I love the fabric -- I have the entire Rittenhouse line. Its black and white print is classic, sophisticated, and will work with either a girl or a boy. We instantly noted that with this seat installed, the front seat must be pushed up pretty far - much too far for a normal-size person to be comfortable. Again, we've never had a carseat before, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. The seat is very cushy and comfortable for our daughter, and she falls asleep almost instantly when she gets in it. Installation was simple, and I have no problems getting her in or out. I have found, like other reviewers, that it does NOT fit easily in shopping carts or in restaurant seat holders. It will fit in a booth only if the table will move over to one side.
