1There's an app for that...Jul 28, 2010
#1 - Only a first time parent thinks anyone needs to report with this much accuracy what your baby is doing.
#2 - As a first time parent, I though this was a GREAT idea and bought one. I though "Surely my doctor wants to know what kind of schedule my baby is on". Your doctor does not care. Your doctor will laugh at you if you bring in this information.
#3 - People will make fun of you. Remember, if you really want accurate information, you have to take it with you everywhere you go and press a button with every poop.
#4 - My husband found an iPhone app that does the same thing for 1.99, so if you REALLY think you need this (which you don't), save some money and just get the app. You have your iPhone with you everywhere anyway.

4A must have, especially with a 2nd child!Jul 18, 2010
I thought about getting an Itzbeen with my first, but opted not to. There were so many other expenses, and really, I could use paper and pen. With the birth of our second (and our first only 17months) I knew I was going to need something else. This thing has been awesome! I highly recommend it. My favorite part is the alarm that you can set for each function. This is particularly helpful with feedings. With my 1st child, we had to reset an alarm each time in the evening, which was one more thing keeping us from going back to sleep. This is automatic so I never have to think about it. I don't know how I would keep track of all this without this handy dandy device.

Other favorites? Sturdy belt clip, small and light weight so it's easy to drag around with me, backlight, "extra" timer for anything (I've been using it for my medication).

So why not 5 stars? I left off a star because there's one thing that would make this perfect. A counter option. For me, I would use it to count diapers. That's the only thing that I still have to use paper for these days. This thing would be perfect with that option. Until then, practically perfect will have to do!

1if you have iphone/ipod-touch: Sleepyhead / tv-apathy does it all BETTERJul 17, 2010
What I like least about the device is that it only knows when something happened the LAST time. It does not help you answer the pediatrician questions how often the diapers are full, or how often baby eats, or how long baby sleeps in total. If you have an iphone or ipod touch, buy the applet sleepyhead from tv-apathy. It tracks everything, is easy to use, gives nice overviews, provides useful history, and is not another piece of techtoy that will only be useful for a short time ...

5So simple, yet very helpfulJul 12, 2010
This is basically a glorified 4 way timer, but it is SO helpful to keep track of feedings, etc. with a new baby. I wish I had this with my first baby, but instead wrote everything down to keep track. Now with baby #2 it helps me remember when the last feeding was - even have it set up for the alarm to go off (silently) every 3 hours so we stay on track amidst a busy schedule.

5Absolute must have!Jul 12, 2010
When I told my wife that I wanted this little device, she balked. She figured I was just adding another non-essential item to my gadget lust. When the baby finally arrived, I was vindicated.

We trade-off staying up with the baby. I take the late evening shift (9pm - 2am) and she takes the early morning (2am - 9am). It's a little like two ships passing in the night. We're groggy at 2am, and we don't have the energy or mental stamina to discuss the status of the baby. With the Itzbeen, itz simple! I just hand her the little device and she knows when his last diaper was, when he ate, and how long he's been asleep (if he is in fact asleep).

This will be our standard baby shower gift from now on. Every new parent should have one, but I don't know how many think to buy it.
